Miss Llewella Davies Pioneer Walkway

In 2016 Camden Council in conjunction with Camden Town Farm management committee was successful in being awarded a Metropolitan Greenspace grant to build the Llewella Davies Pioneer Walkway. The $702,000 walkway received $351,000 in funding through the Metropolitan Greenspace Program, with the rest funded by Council.

The Miss Llewella Davies Pioneers Walkway, which covers riparian zones, pastoral, grazing and cropping paddocks, offers fantastic views of St Johns Church, the Chinese Washing Wells, the Nepean River and Macquarie House. Miss Llewella Davies was an energetic member of the Camden community and this walkway is a key part of honoring her. It continues her legacy of community participation while maintaining its significant heritage value.

Patrons can choose from three different walking tracks, including:

  • Nepean River Link, which is 250 metres long. This track has a flat, even surface with no steps or steep sections. It is suitable for wheelchair users who have someone to assist;
  • Matahill Creek Loop, which is 800 metres in length. This track also has a flat, even surface with no steps or steep sections and is suitable for wheelchair users with assistance; and
  • Elizabeth Street Farm Link, which is 1.3 kilometres long. This track may have short steep hill sections with rough surfaces and is not wheelchair accessible.

The walkway, opened by Camden Mayor Theresa Fedelli on 17th August 2019, is approximately 2.4 kilometres of walking path throughout the Camden Town Farm. The walkway will allow visitors of historic cultural and natural interest within the Town.

Camden Town Farm is a working farm that is home to a herd of beef cattle as well home to a myriad of native wildlife. Also, sections of the walkway are very narrow. Consequently for the safety of our animals and patrons dogs (on or off leash) are not permitted on the walkway.
